Our History

SVC has a rich history of working with the local community, and have done since the 70s! Use our interactive timetline below to find out more about our story.

In Summer 2019 SVC changed its name. We're still called SVC, but now it stands for Skills & Volunteering Cymru (just in case you weren’t aware Cymru is the Welsh word for Wales).

We decided to make the change because we now support students from the three local Universities to get involved with volunteering, plus Community members are now also welcome to volunteer on our projects. Therefore, any adult looking to volunteer in the areas of Cardiff, RCT, Vale of Glamorgan and Gwent can come and get involved with our projects.

Our changes won’t affect the type of work we deliver, it just means we can do more work, and reach out to support more beneficiaries across South Wales.

Are you part of SVC history?
Did you volunteer for CUSS/SCA/SVC whilst you were a student? Please have a look at our Alumni Network and get in touch with the team - we love to hear about what our fantastic volunteers have gone on to do.
