James Galloway

General Trustee

I am currently a postgraduate student at Cardiff University working towards a PhD in Integrative Neuroscience. I also carried out my undergraduate degree in Cardiff, during which I volunteered with SVC and I am keen to further support the valuable work carried out by SVC by joining the Board of Trustees. I have a passion for volunteering and consider it my main hobby. I began volunteering in May 2000 and I have worked on a range of projects, supporting people with various needs. My first placement was as a volunteer playworker, I have also volunteered with Headway, Action for Children, NAS, Cardiff Mind and most recently Homestart. I truly believe with volunteering you gain a lot from giving a little and wish to support others in discovering this. I bring an important perspective having volunteered as both a student and a community member. Crucially, I also have experience of being a Trustee. As a trustee of VCS, I supported its work recruiting and placing volunteers with their ideal placements. At Cardiff Mind, I was a trustee who also volunteered to deliver some of its services. As a trustee of Life Map Planners, I supported a small charity to assist young people in achieving their potential.
