A summer sailing project for volunteers to support adults with disabilities to sail.

This is a great opportunity to have lots of fun, working in a team of other volunteers, whilst making a real difference to a vulnerable adults' life.

The roles of volunteers will include rigging boats and pulling them into the water, talking to customers and helping them get in their jackets, helping secure boats and administrating payments. All volunteers will be provided with adequate training before they begin.

All volunteers will get the opportunity to go sailing if they want to. If volunteers feel confident enough they could take clients out on a boat, however this is not a requirement. No manual handling will be expected, though staff could teach volunteers how to use a hoist if they would like to learn.

All volunteers will be expected to wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather.

Sailing is a great activity to get to know service users and the sensory aspect of sailing is great for relaxation and reflection.
