After the success of Student Volunteering Week 2017, we're back for more with six one-off events to get involved in! To top it all off we're finishing the week with the SVC Ball, what better time to celebrate the year's volunteering achievements?!
Here's the full details of what's on offer...
Nightingale House Hostel Makeover (Sunday 18th Feb 10am-3pm)
With guidance from an artist, help create a welcoming mural for the residents of Nightingale House Hostel. Nightingale House provides a temporary and welcoming home for families that need support regardless of gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, race/ethnic origin, religion & belief, marital status or work status.
Afternoon Tea for Elderly Individuals (Monday 19th Feb – 11am-2pm)
Come along to Cathays Methodist Church for a cuppa, cake and a chat with isolated elderly individuals. Feel free to bring along home made cakes and bakes too!
Cathays Community Centre Garden Makeover (Wednesday 21st Feb – 1pm-4pm)
Help spruce up Cathays Community Centre's garden by helping out with painting and weeding. A great way to look after a fantastic facility right on your doorstep!
ASSL Archive Visit (Wednesday 21st Feb 1pm-3pm)

Join the CUSS team and support adults with disabilities tour the ASSL History Archives at Cardiff University Arts and Social Sciences building.
Hand I Pocket Sensory Textile Workshop (Wednesday 21st Feb 5pm-7.30pm)

Create home-made sensory textile pockets that are then given to people living with dementia to amuse, occupy and distract them. The pockets can encourage playful activity for people with limited mobility and dexterity and help stimulate conversation with carers when verbal communication is difficult.
Forest Farm Conservation Day (Thursday 22nd Feb 9.30am-3.30pm)

Join the Greendays group and support adults with disabilites carry out conservation work at Forest Farm in Whitchurch.
Circus Themed Family Fun Day at Ronald McDonald House (Friday 23rd Feb 10am-3pm)

Come down to the Ronald McDonald House at Heath Hospital and help run a circus themed family fun day for the residents. Ronald McDonald House Charities provide free 'home away from home' accommodation for families with children in hospital.
SVC Ball! (Saturday 24th Feb from 7pm)
Celebrate your hard work at the SVC Annual Ball! You can buy your tickets online here.
