LOL Fridays is a fantastic social club for young adults with Down’s Syndrome.
The club takes place every other Friday evening where volunteers assist the young people to engage in various different activities, either in a rented hall, out and about on a trip, or over Zoom.
Hall-based activities include board games, arts and crafts, karaoke, ball games and playing on the Wii, whilst trips could include things such as bowling, the cinema, going for food, a trip to the park, etc. In previous years volunteers have also thrown Halloween and Christmas parties! Please note that this year we will be alternating between in-person and digital sessions to cater to the needs of all of our beneficiaries.
It’s the volunteers’ job to help create a fun, safe and supported environment where the young adults can socialise and engage altogether, which in turn helps build their social and communication skills.
The club has been a huge success since its onset 7 years ago and we now have 13 regular attendees who look forward to the fortnightly event. Volunteers will gain skills such as leadership, teamwork, organisation, communication, and must be committed, patient and, above all, be able to have fun!
