We are looking for confident, upbeat and enthusiastic volunteers to support adults with learning disabilities participating in Sport and/or Dance Activities around Cardiff. These Activities are based in the community at venues including Llanishen Leisure Centre, St Lukes Church, Newport Station Gym, Newport International Sports Village, Parc Golf Club and Pill Millenium Centre where we deliver various activities including Archery, Circuits, Zumba, Easyline Gym, Boccia, Golf Football, Yoga, Rogby Skills, Pilates and more. Volunteers will provide encouragement and instruction to individuals and groups who attend sessions to support them to participate in the activity.

Volunteers are only asked to volunteer once a week on one of the available sessions – but are welcome to attend a few if available.

Sessions are run by our partner organisation called Multisport Social Health and Wellbeing. They are a local organisation aiming to improve the Health and Wellbeing of adults with learning disabilities through sport and dance in the community.

Volunteers will help with the smooth running of Multisport and ensure sessions are held in a safe and engaging environment and will include:

  • Supporting individuals and groups during the sport and dance sessions by providing encouragement and instruction to help them with participate in the activities
  • Helping prepare for sessions and greeting individuals on their arrival
  • Clearing down equipment after sessions and helping ensure the facility is suitable for the next session.
  • Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities and the neurodiverse would be beneficial but not essential as the most important thing is to be encouraging, enthusiastic and the willingness to help individuals as part of the Multisport team.
  • Any sport and dance coaching qualifications and experience would be beneficial but not essential as all sessions will be led by the Multisport Sports and Dance Coaches.

Volunteering for Multisport is:

  • an excellent training opportunity to gain practical experience and knowledge of working in social care with adults with learning disabilities and/or working in the fitness and wellbeing sector.
  • Or just a way to use your spare time to help improve the health and wellbeing of others which can be extremely rewarding and fulfilling.

The Activities are based in the community at venues including Newport Station Gym, Newport International Sports Village and Pill Millenium Centre where we deliver various activities including Archery, Circuits, Zumba, Easyline Gym, Boccia, Golf, Football, Yoga, Rugby Skills, Pilates and more.

We are looking for volunteers to help out at different Cardiff venues throughout the week - if this sounds like something you'd enjoy, then please get in touch by contacting info@svcymru.org or applying directly through our website.
